Keep up the faith

As the Fall darkness and crisp air blows in, my thoughts turn to all of us digging in for a seventh season of Corona19 pandemic with its’ associated shutdowns and social distancing recommendations. First, let me say: CONGRATULATIONS, to us all: we are all here, still plugging away at our lives, despite the social chaos, personal tragedies and environmental disasters of 2021. Well done! You are all seen, by me. I salute everyone and honor the work that you are doing. Some of us have even thrived this year, despite the hardships.

And, let me say, WE HAVE SURVIVED AND THRIVED THROUGH MUCH WORSE. In the early 1900s, when the so-called Spanish flu pandemic killed over 30 million people worldwide, there were the same arguments over public health/governmental control and personal freedom; there was a devastating world war raging at the same time; there was a 28% mortality rate amongst otherwise seemingly healthy young people and there were few effective treatment options. So, we’ve been through this before, and we bounced back, as civilizations and as a species. The worldwide medical response has been MUCH better, this time around; and our individual family fates have been, overall, more gentle, hard as it seems.

Humans adapt to most virus,’ over time. We are stronger, and more resilient, as a result of the exposure. Whatever doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger. And, microbes are very important to counter-measuring virus’: strengthening our immunity is vital to building that resilience.

Strengthening Our Immunity:

  • Support those helpful microbes by EATING WHOLE FOODS, every day - whole grains, root veggies, and leafy greens especially.

  • MEDITATE, or practice mindful awareness, regularly - even for short moments.

  • Practice POSITIVE SELF-TALK - and positive life-talk - aloud in front of the mirror if you have to

  • SING a happy song, or DANCE a happy dance, every day

  • Keep the TOXINS DOWN, in your every day environment: in our housing, clothing, and personal care products

  • Remember what gives your life MEANING AND PURPOSE, and move within that/towards that every season.

  • Give yourself and those in your life LOVE - with your words, your gifts, your acts of service, your hugs and affection, in whatever language you speak.

And, for your dance for today.

Keep up the faith,

Eliza
